On the Run (Day 2)

First day of summer work...was a lot easier with the ketones! Would you believe it? Because now I surely do.

Starting out, in the morning I've been using this app called Seven to workout every morning for a little over a week. It's a quick, seven-minute, full body workout and then after that I use (good grief) WiiFit to calculate my BMI/body weight. I do not think WiiFit is the most accurate thing anyone could use and I don't really recommend it, but it is a quick way to get some "helpful" information. That being said, it calculated that my weight dropped -0.9 lbs. I chalked it up to being water weight, but it was still neat to see!

Before sipping my ketones, I discovered it's a bit harder for me to drink water so early, meaning before the work day actually started. Yet slowly but surely, I made it through my first 16 oz. then 20 oz., using the rest of the half pack of Orange Dream ketones from the previous day.

The energy I had all morning and throughout the day affected my attitude in a positive way towards everything I did! Even the parts of the daily summer activities that I didn't like so much last summer. I got into the pool twice, without a second thought, something I wouldn't have done last summer because of all the attention one has to put out to entertain the kids. Also because I had long hair then, but still, I didn't mind playing with them the entire time.

Working with kids is not the easiest job in the world. And through all the chaos of the first day, I was completely at ease. Someone even told me, "last week you didn't look like you wanted to be here, but now with the kids, you look like you're having fun!" That person was completely right. Not only did I feel totally in my element, but I was energized and having a super smiley morning without even knowing it!

A problem I found with trying to drink ketones during the day at my job is that the schedule is so full and fast-paced that there's essentially no time to take a break and "drink up" again. So I ran the whole day on the half-packet. With this in mind, it was also difficult to refill my water bottle every time I finished it, which was quite often. I found my lips getting dry sometimes and I could feel the same in my throat. It was also pretty hot outside so it was a bit challenging not to dash off to the nearest water fountain whenever I needed to.

Surprisingly, I didn't feel actually hungry until lunchtime came around, which was a huge lifesaver. Being a person who usually doesn't eat breakfast every morning, last summer I would be hungry before I even got close to lunch, so that was a problem. But on the ketones, I was able to get through the entire morning without once having to think about whether or not I was hungry.

I took half of the Max (red) packet in the afternoon and after I ate dinner, I realized I could easily do a 6-hour (12pm-6pm) intermittent fasting day with ease. I was not hungry enough to keep eating after 6pm. Nothing to report yet if this is impacting my ability to sleep better since my sleep schedule is very irregular right now. But will keep you posted!
