Extra Stuffing (Day 3)

Be careful! That's the first thing I learned when I finished my first fast. Eating too much food after your stomach hasn't had it for so much time is something you really need to ease back into. After the first fast, I ate a lot in the first hour. I didn't get sick from it or anything, but I was much more wary this time around of how I needed to ease back into eating.

Generally speaking, this morning started well. I woke up easily, exercised, drank water and my ketones and waited for eight o' clock to arrive. When it finally did, I wasn't hungry. I didn't actually end up eating for about another two hours, but I was happy enough that I made it to the 60 hour mark! I had a healthy lunch, which included guacamole, and throughout most of the rest of the day, I found myself not craving sweets and snack foods like I did before. From what I ate at lunch, I wasn't hungry for the rest of the day either and I got a lot more energy back in my limbs, whereas before they felt weak.

Driving home, I tried eating a salty snack and some grapes. The grapes surprised me; They were sweet but on a whole other kind of level. And when I tried the other snack, I literally thought, "I liked this?" I don't think I even finished it. And of course when I got home, there was a cinnamon-y treat waiting for me. I knew I wanted a quick snack, but to decide which one I felt like having, I conducted a little experiment. I pulled out a carrot and some extra hummus from lunch and ate that first. After that, I didn't even want the dessert. It felt so good to be eating healthy food and I'm so glad that my liking, or dare I say craving, for certain snacks has become less stronger than it was before.

At the end I see how my body detoxed itself more compared to the last fast. I was far more aware of my bodily changes and much more prepared to take on this fast now that I'd tried one before. And again, I'm thrilled I was able to make it! Here's to the next one!
