Apart from my graduation from college (yay!), I have an announcement that I have been waiting to share for so long. There are few people who know (my parents of course), but I haven't broadcasted it very much because I wanted to see how far I would get or see whether I would drop it off as an unfinished project. But I am excited to announce that I am writing a book! I had to put it on hold toward the end of school, but I am now working on making my edits as "final" as possible. (Is any edit really final? -sigh- Writer problems...)

It's been just over a year since the idea was planted in my head and I began to work on it. I was thinking (believe it or not) about Beauty and the Beast, how Belle was talked about for being a little different and how Beast was really distanced from everyone and he was also a hideous creature. Well let me tell you, the shower is a great place to think. Some great ideas can come up in there and for me, this was one of them. I thought about, "What if all we cared about was our looks," and then, "What if our looks defined who we were as people?" As quickly as I could, I ran to my computer and typed out a plot. Since then I've created a whole world that is constantly changing and growing.

Set in a futuristic U.S.A. that is dominated by beauty and it's impact on society, the novel follows the path of a "regular" girl as she tries to find her family members within a fractured nation that exposes more of it's true self the more she gets past the plastic smiles and phony facades.

That's about all I can share without giving too much away (which I really want to do because I want everyone to read it), but I think it's a good story and I hope others will agree someday. I am hoping and praying that I will be able to get it published this year, preferably sooner than later, but I keep thinking of it as a God book. I claim to have gotten the credit for this idea and continuous creativity from Him so if he wants it to be published, then it will be. If the timing is wrong and it takes several years or even if it never happens, so be it. And as Forrest Gump would say, "that's all I have to say about that."
