Whether they be quotes, pictures, experiences, ideas, or lessons learned,
here are my top most memorable moments from the month!
Moments of the Month
8. I went to see a speaker, Izzy Ezagui, at the Jewish Community Center. He is the only IDF soldier with this specific disability to return to full combat duty. He was super inspirational to listen to and it was cool to see him in person. It felt like a mini TedTalk!
7. When hurricane Florence was on it's way, there was a day when the rain was really down pouring, my sister and I went outside, danced in the rain and splashed each other with deep puddles.
6. I went to Pennsylvania to see my Grandma! My Mom and I drove up to get away from the hurricane and even though it never came near VA, it was so great to be able to see her and help her out.
5. I watched this video created by HowToBasic on "How to Make Ramen." While this may seem like the simplest and frankly dumbest "favorite moment of the month," it probably is, but sometimes those are the best. I can't remember ever laughing so hard. If you want to see where I started cracking up, skip to 7:44 in the video. My Mom and older sister can witness, I was hysterical.
4. I had a job interview! I didn't get the job, but I wasn't discouraged. I just kept trusting that there was a reason I didn't get it. The next day I reached out to the production manager of VSC and she told me there were some jobs I could fill for a couple of their upcoming shows. So God worked it out in the end!
3. I traveled another place this month! The following weekend after Pennsylvania, I went to North Carolina with my Dad for a community retreat. Our community in Virginia went there to give talks on how to start and form a community there. Along with singing in the music ministry, my Dad and I gave a talk on our bi-weekly Treasure Hunts. And afterwards before our drive home, we went on a short hunt with the woman who organized the event to show her how it was done.
2. I treated myself one Saturday morning by going to the beach. I was out there early enough that I could go to the Old Beach Farmer's Market, where I used to work (from the days when I lived on a goat farm). After I went to The Green Cat for a smoothie, I walked across the boardwalk to the beach, where the tide was in pretty far. The weather was the perfect blend of cool-warm-windy-cloudy, and there were only a few people scattered far across the beach. I was in a state of pure tranquility watching the foam of the crashing waves come right up to my toes and then feeling the salt spray mist onto my face as they receded.
Extra bonus; I went to the Neptune Sculpting Festival the next day with my parents! Here's some photos of the amazing sculptures.
1. I went to a showing of 160+ relics from Saints throughout history. People were able to touch personal items to first class relics (the body or fragments of the body of a saint, such as pieces of bone or flesh) and second class relics (something that a saint personally owned, such as a shirt or book or fragments of those items). Doing this makes whatever item you touch, my cross necklace for example, a third class relic, an item that a saint touched or that has been touched to a first, second, or another third class relic of a saint.
Check out the website for Treasures of the Church HERE.
