Tips to Lose Weight Without Worrying about Your Weight

Literally every weight loss tip feels like a cliché to me now. Having 'tried everything' as they say and read blog posts and online articles galore, there doesn't seem to be much hope, until you find something that kinda does "work". Here are some tips I've found work for myself and that could work for you! And yes, I realize most of them sound like clichés, but speaking from experience, they can be very effective.
1. Stop comparing yourself to others.
This is a big one actually and there was a time I would look up celebrities and wonder how I could follow their workout routines and diets. Knowing that this was not the safest route to follow however, I could do such without falling into that obsessive mindset.
But what I would suggest doing, especially on social media, is following people who inspire you to become a better version of yourself, not make you want to be them. Someone who does this for me is Australian fitness trainer, Kayla Itsines. She is very community oriented and genuinely invested in training to become stronger.
2. Find something you love to do.
Again, this is one of those cliché tips I see out there, but I've now experienced something I like (ballet) and it works for me! Watch me try out a Ballet Boot Camp HERE!
I also found this past summer that acting is another good way for me to be mindful of my body as I want to look good onstage. Find your thing and stick with it!
3. Drink your daily quota of water.
Believe it or not, this one actually works. I found a water bottle that holds 2.2 liters and I make sure to drink enough of one of those to meet the minimum daily goal of 72 ounces. Also, my younger sister and I use an app called 'My Water' and this actually helps keep us both accountable with each other meeting our daily water intake.
4. Make the healthy choices.
At some point I kind of stopped wanting crap food as often and even though I still love junk food, especially french fries, it's not something I reach for anymore. I don't deny myself any particular food (I can eat so many cheese sticks) because that is the perfect way to make a situation even more tempting. But more often than not I find myself wanting the healthier option and I can manage how much "junk" I eat.
5. Be picky.
When you get picky about what goes into your body, you will start making healthier choices. I know it's hard to be picky when you haven't been to the grocery store in a hot minute and all you have lying around is a bag of potato chips, but make that effort to think about what you're about to eat before you eat it. When you get to this point, you're in a good spot.
6. Get sleep.
If you can manage to get more sleep every night, do! Amazing how much good a loooong-er sleep period will do for your body.
7. It takes time (and patience).
Don't ever try to rush weight loss. It doesn't work and FYI, you gain back more on top of what you temporarily lost. I can't stress this one enough.
8. Eat the same meals every day.
This one works for some people. Meal prep can definitely be helpful for those with a busy work schedule, but if you can manage to find three meals you like and won't get bored of (that are healthy, of course), try this hack out! I did something similar to this when I tried Tim Ferris' 4 Hour Body diet for two weeks. 'Same meals' prep is something I do currently.
9. Don't force yourself to exercise.
You know how you feel great after a workout and on your way to the best version of yourself? Then you reach for the cookies and chips. Well guess what? In that version of exercising, I end up feeling worse after a workout.
I have actually found an exercise program that works for me, however since focusing more on what I eat, I've come to realize that exercise is "just" a BIG added bonus to a healthy body, not a requirement.
I would recommend exercise if you struggle with your diet; One could help counteract the other a bit.
I've found that these tips help me greatly from day to day. Let me know if you've ever tried any of these and whether or not they worked for you!
